THE QUINO EL GUARDIAN

The vessel is 90 ft long with a 25 ft beam, Quino holds room for 16 passengers with additional space for two of the group leaders in the crew quarters.

Quino is equipped with state of the art electronics and all safety equipment required. We carry the conscience and awareness of keeping our oceans protected. The time we spent with marine biologist groups on our sister ship, Rocio del Mar, has been especially precious, giving a sense of direction to the whole project, surrounded by open minds whose only interest was making the world a better place.

OUR CABINS

5 cabins: 4 cabins with 4 beds and 1 cabin with two beds. There are two bunks on each side, equalling 4 beds with privacy curtains. Each cabin is outfitted with 4 large size drawers, one for each guest. There is one cabin with 2 bunks that sleeps 2.

AMENITIES ON BOARD

There is A/C throughout for everyone’s comfort. 4 spacious community bathrooms with a full size shower in each. There is a galley that comfortably accommodates all 16 passengers with a projector and a drop-down screen for group presentations. The salon is comfortable with sofas, a TV and a computer table set up. Large shaded Sundeck with lawn chairs, perfect for relaxing between dives.

FOOD ON BOARD

All meals and snacks are included. Start your day early with a heavy continental breakfast with bagels, toast, yogurt, fresh fruit, cereals, fresh juices, coffee, tea and hot chocolate. After your first dive you will enjoy an American style breakfast consisting of items such as pancakes, waffles, eggs, breakfast meats, and potatoes. After your second dive you will come back to a hearty lunch that starts with a home-made soup followed by a plated meal such with fish, beef or chicken, fresh vegetables, home-made pasta salads, burgers, fish tacos, and more. In the mid-afternoon our chef will prepare a lovely snack with items such as mini sandwiches, sliced cheese and meats, nachos, guacamole, etc.

You will end your day with a wonderful, three course dinner that starts with a salad, a main course with seafood, beef, chicken or pork cooked with savoury spices, paired with vegetables, pastas and potatoes. Desserts are a sweet surprise made fresh daily. Weather permitting we have special evening on the top of our boat where our chef prepares carne asada and the entire crew joins in to serve you. Hot and cold beverages are available throughout the day including canned soft drinks. The Quino provides complimentary beer and wine after your last dive of the day.

SCIENTIFIC PROGRAMS 

On these trips you will be able to dive alongside scientists and help them in their research on sharks and mantas. This is a unique opportunity to get closer to these beautiful animals by helping protecting them and understanding their behaviour.

EMBARKATION AND DEPARTURE

  • Check in on the boat is between 17:00 and 18:00.
  • The boat departs Marina Fonatur at around 18:00 on the same day
  • After booking you will receive the pre-trip information sheet. Please read it for more information on how to get to the yacht
  • Accepted payment methods on board: VISA, Mastercard, Cash (USD), Cash (EUR), Cash, Traveller checks
  • DIN/INT adaptors are available on board
  • Towels and soap are included

ARRIVAL AND DISEMBARKATION

  • Your last dives will be on the second to last day in the morning
  • It is your responsibility to ensure you respect the 24 hour no-fly time after your last dive!
  • The boat docks back in Marina Fonatur early in the morning on the second to last day
  • Check out and disembarkation is around 07:00 on the last day.

EXTRA INFORMATION

  • It is mandatory to complete an on line Guest Registration Form (not later the 30 days prior to departure)
  • The boat is located at the Marina Fonatur in Puerto Peñasco, Mexico. Marina Fonatur is approximately a four hour drive from Phoenix, Arizona. 
  • Phoenix Sky Harbor Airport (PHX) is the most convenient and closest airport to fly into to reach the port
  • If you require transportation services to and from Phoenix and the Marina; we can coordinate that
  • Passengers must have reached the Marina and be aboard the boat between 17:00 and 18:00
  • There is secured parking available in Puerto Peñasco for $5 per day right next to where the boat is docked
  • At the end of the safari, the shuttle will pick up passengers promptly upon disembarking. 
  • Please remember to book your departing flight from Phoenix, Arizona no earlier than 14:00 - 15:00
  • There are no wetsuits, masks, fins and snorkels for rent

  • It's also a macro photographers dream with nudibranchs, colorful blennys, dancing jawfish and sea horses. 
  • Hike and explore remote uninhabited islets. 
  • Dine under the stars in a calm anchorage, socialize with your shipmates and make new friends.
  • All in a day aboard Quino el Guardian, combined with personalized service to enhance your live aboard safety and fun. 

TRAVEL PROGRAM

DAY 1

  • Safety Briefing, Crew Introduction, Necessary Dive Paperwork, Cabin allocation and ship orientation will take place before departing the Harbour.
  • During the journey to our first dive site for a check dive, please take this opportunity to familiarize yourselves with the vessel and make yourself comfortable.
  • Please Note: This is a sample itinerary and nº of dives, dive sites, etc. may be subject to change due to weather conditions and other unforseeable factors

DAY 2 - 6

  • You will dive at the best locations available on the day throughout your trip.
  • Your free time can be spent to sight pods of dolphins and whales, go snorkelling or simply relax and have sunbathing.
  • These islands are a spectacular magnet for the largest ocean pelagic animals in the world. 
  • This holiday is like a living documentary, giving you the opportunity to learn more about what you love.
  • Although the conditions in the Sea of Cortez are mostly calm, there are times that the sea is rough. Please be prepared for this type of situation. There are several over the counter remedies that can help you in case we are faced with rough seas during your trip.

CANCELLATION POLICY

What if I need to cancel my booking?

Your reservation request is obligation free and you can cancel anytime within the first 72 hours. During this time you can easily find matching flights and get answers from our reservations team to any further questions you may have.
After you have confirmed and paid for your reservation, the following cancellation policy applies:

  • 25% of the total booking amount will be charged if you cancel more than 90 days prior to arrival
  • 50% will be charged if you cancel between 90 and 60 days prior to arrival
  • 100% will be charged if you cancel less than 60 days prior to arrival

In case of cancellation the refund will be transferred to your bank account, credit card or paypal account within 10 business days

BEFORE TRAVELLING

  • Make sure you meet the country's requirements corresponding to your nationality make sure your passport is valid at least six months after the date you plan to visit the country
  • Diving insurance is mandatory for divers of all ages on all of our trips: bring your certificate as proof
  • It is strongly recommended to have travel insurance that is appropriate for the type of diving holidays you are going to do
  • Check the electrical standards (such as which plugs are used) in your destination country before travelling and bring the appropriate adaptor if necessary.
  • The itinerary and the number of dives are indicative and are subject to weather conditions and conditions: safety is always first
  • All divers must provide their diving certification card
  • Diving computers are compulsory
  • Local rates, fuel surcharges, distance rates, port fees, etc. may change without notice due to changes in government policy, changes in the price of oil, etc.
  • The changes are beyond our control and the increases must be paid if the boat requests them. We will endeavor to inform you of any changes as soon as possible. A change in these rates does not entitle you to cancel the trip.
