The M/V Carpe Vita Explorer, began service in February 2011 as a very luxurious addition to the Explorer Ventures Fleet. This 20-passenger, 125-foot wooden-hull safari yacht, along with her 60-foot custom matching dhoni (dive tender), was built by one of the Maldives most accomplished boat builders. It provides guests with an exceptional and luxurious yachting experience, large, hotel-style Staterooms, Jacuzzi and unmatched open-air comfort! To ensure your Dive Safari Holiday becomes a memorable experience, every aspect of MV Carpe Vita Explorer's design, itinerary and menu have received detailed attention. The diving, the leisure activities, the luxury and comfort found aboard the MV Carpe Vita Explorer easily compare to those of any hotel on land.

The MV Carpe Vita Explorer is a beautiful Yacht, set to discover the fascinating Underwater World of the Maldives. The MV Carpe Vita Explorer's itineraries were arranged so the dive sites can be visited at the perfect time. Moreover, it differentiates itself from other liveaboards by providing the best in personalized accommodation, services and facilities.

The MV Carpe Vita Explorer has 3 types of cabins. VIP Suites on the Upper Deck, and 2 types of Stateroom on the Main and Lower Decks. The boat is equipped with air-conditioning.

For entertainment and activities as well as great diving, the MV Carpe Vita Explorer offers karaoke, movies, audio-video entertainment and fish identification sessions.

On the MV Carpe Vita Explorer evening meals and lunches usually consist of vegetables, rice, pasta, soup, chicken, beef or fish with occasional local specialties offered as additional options. Breakfast is the usual fare of eggs, beef bacon, pancakes, French toast, potatoes, cereal and fruits. If you have any dietary restrictions or requests, please indicate them on your application form. Please note that specific brands of drinks, dressings and foods are often unavailable in the Maldives and that it can be very difficult for us to find low-fat, gluten-free or soy products, fresh fruit, shellfish and other items common elsewhere. Pork and pork products are not served aboard. While we will do our best to accommodate your requests, please be realistic and consider bringing some of your own foods if the lack thereof may constitute a health risk. All soft drinks, packaged juices, filter coffee, tea and water are included. Two glasses of beer or wine during the evening meal are included in your package price. Due to the difficulty of importing alcohol into the Maldives, additional beer or wine or freshly made juices or any hard liquor will be added to your onboard bill.

DAYS 2 - 6

  • Dive the best sites around
  • Atolls: North Male - Lhaviyani - Noonu - Shaviyani - Raa - Baa - Rasdhoo - Ari - North Male
  • Explore the less-travelled atolls of the far north, a mainly uninhabited region with beautiful scenic reefs and soft corals, a delight for underwater photographers.
  • Shift in topography, corals and colours.
  • Expect to see mantas, black and white tip reef sharks, giant travallies and colourful nudibranches, and even a chance to see whalesharks around Baa Atoll!
  • The diving in the north has less channel dives and more fringing reefs and submerged thilas, dotted with caves and overhangs.
  • Haa Alifu and Shaviyani atolls are the oldest of the Maldives archipelago and form a single chain of widely spaced islands that clear deep blue water, small thilas packed with fish life, undercut ledges with excellent corals and beautiful white sand floors.
  • Notable dive sites include: Thakan: a deep ridge adorned with soft coral and excellent shark spotting opportunities. Fssp: a shark cleaning station with huge schools of batfish, trevally and eagle rays. Pink Canyon and Heaven and Hell: have stunning soft corals for excellent wide angle photography.
  • The wreck of Captain Pentalis: resting on a shallow reef, this wreck is home to an astonishing amount of fish life and every afternoon pods of common dolphin are often seen passing by.  Magic Mushroom: miraculous macro life and a stunning night dive. Island Hideaway: mantas!!!  Moroshi Thila and Handi Thila: provide action packed dives with sharks, fish life and excellent corals.
  • Raa and Noonu Atolls here the islands and reef systems are closer together and double chained, changing the underwater topography and offering shallower reefs, soft corals with spectacular drift dives.
  • Notable dives sites include: Alifushi and Ifaaru (on the North West of Raa): mantas!!!  The seven kings: a stunning labyrinth filled with fish life and pristine hard and soft corals. Long ridge at Noonu Atoll: classic shark cleaning station. Queen's rock: beautiful xmas tree thila.
  • Baa Atoll a UNESCO biosphere reserve with significant biodiversity makes this a great place to spot whale sharks and mantas.
  • Notable sites include Hanifaru Bay: An unusual phenomenon of underwater diversity because of plankton blooms between the months of May and November attracts manta rays by the hundreds. At any time at Hanifaru Bay, there can be up to 200 manta rays feeding off the coral reefs as well as plenty of whale sharks which do the same!
  • Lhaviyani another change in topography and reef systems here with deep channels.
  • Notable dives sites include: Kuredu Express and Fushi kandu: exhilarating channel dives. Kuredu caves: the friendliest green turtles in the Maldives and the incredible anemone thila.
