M/V Pearl of Papua is a 30m liveaboard scheduling fantastic value diving holidays year-round in Raja Ampat, Indonesia, home to the highest marine biodiversity on Earth. This variety of marine life makes Raja Ampat the ultimate diving destination. The 12 member crew of Pearl of Papua is highly knowledgeable and intimately familiar with Raja Ampat and strives to provide five-star service. 

Spacious decks throughout the boat provide ample space to laze privately or mingle with the rest of the group. A professional chef prepares fresh gourmet meals and snacks throughout the day to please every palette.


This boat has space for 15 passengers. Topside, the Pearl of Papua liveaboard Indonesia offers premium air-conditioned cabins and en-suite bathrooms. Two Master cabins with double bed and two single beds are located on the upper deck, a Suite is located on the lower deck, along with 4 standard cabins. 


Boat salon combined with dining area, it is spacious and comfortable for relaxing after dives. Not only this area of Pearl of Papua dedicated to relaxation. There is an open-air massage area on upper deck and a sun deck with cozy loungers where you can enjoy the gorgeous view.


The MV Pearl of Papua was custom designed for diving expeditions, with rinse tanks, dedicated camera table and charging station and kitting-up stations for each diver available. There are also 3 tenders to make getting to and from the dive sites as comfortable as possible. The dive staff will work with divers to create the most unforgettable underwater excursions Raja Ampat has to offer.

  • Pickup time at the airport is according to your flights. Give yourself enough time to go through immigration and pickup your bags
  • Someone of the crew will be waiting outside the arrival hall and ready to escort you to the ship for immediate boarding.
  • Hotel pickup time is in the morning
  • Check in on the boat is between 06:00 and 11:00.
  • The boat departs Sorong early in the afternoon on the same day
  • The vessel is equipped with European (2 pin) power sockets, Power socket adapters

  • Your last dives will be on the second to last day in the morning

  • Currently this trip is scheduled to use the port of Sorong(SOQ). However, the government of Raja Ampat is considering to ask all liveaboards on Raja Ampat trips to go through the port of Waisai in the future. Waisai is about a 2h ferry ride from Sorong and has its own small airport, Marinda airport (RJM).


  • Approx. 25 dives
  • We require you have a minimum of 30 logged dives for our liveaboard cruise routes.
  • The Indonesian Dive site is so large that your particular itinerary will inform you of the exact qualification and experience needed for that cruise.
  • To dive with a dive buddy, you must be a PADI Open Water diver or equivalent and be able to complete each dive with your buddy or following your guide. On some dives the recommended depth is below 18m therefore advanced or Deep Diver training is advised. 
  • Many of the dives in Indonesia are suitable for all levels of divers, however, unpredictable and strong currents are to be expected anytime and anywhere. Inexperienced divers may find some dives challenging and may be asked by the Cruise Director to skip dives that are not suitable for their diving experience
  • Number of planned dives depending on the weather conditions and the route are varied but with an average of 4 dives per day - one dive will be a sunset or night dive.
  • Currents in some areas of this route can be strong. 
  • This trip will bring you diving in three completely different area Alor, the Banda Sea and Raja Ampat, you can be certain that the biodiversity will be amazing!
  • Healthy reefs, pinnacles, walls, very interesting swim throughs, great muck dives, cold water, warm water, strong currents
  • Amazing amount of sea snakes as no other place in the world
  • In Banda Island also a cultural and historical experience. 
  • Plenty of opportunities to see pelagics passing out in the blue, and of course the chance to see the famous school of Hammerhead Sharks! 



  • Arrival and assistance at the airport. Collecting your luggage.
  • At the indicated time, transfer to the port depending the route.
  • Boarding the boat, welcome drink and presentation briefing of the boat and crew (depending on the schedule of flights will be the first day or the next day early morning).
  • Distribution of cabins.
  • Overnight on board.
  • You can take some time this day to prepare your diving equipment.

DAYS 2 to Penultimate

  • 21 - 22 are the nº of dives in this trip.
  • Diving trip with full board and daily diving plan.
  • You will dive the most important dive sites of this route.
  • Every single trip is tailor-made to create a once-in-a-lifetime experience.
  • The decision on the itinerary is made by the cruise director based on factors such as weather conditions, dive conditions, requests of guests, schedules of other liveaboards, which we are trying to stay away from.

Penultimate Day

  • 2 dives in the morning.
  • Afternoon / night, arrival at port.
  • Dinner and accommodation on board.
  • Free time to enjoy the local atmosphere, shopping and / or optional excursions in the area.

Final Day

  • Disembark in Port.
  • Transfer to the hotel or airports



  • Arrive at Sorong Airport. Our crew will be waiting outside the arrival hall, they will escort you to the Pearl of Papua. After a 15 minute ride, you will be onboard the vessel, cabin allocation and ship orientation will take place before departure, take this time to familiarize yourself with the facilities and make yourself comfortable. Lunch and dinner will be served while heading towards Raja Ampat National Park. Sorong to Penemu is roughly an eleven-hour journey.
  • Check Dive at Batu Hitam, time permitting

Fam and Penemu

  • Spread over nearly 700 square kilometers of ocean, just above the midway point on Raja Ampat’s north-south axis, Fam and Penemu’s vivid coral gardens revel in the nutrient-rich water brought forth from the Dampier Straits. My Reef has excellent fish life and is the perfect way to start your first full day of the expedition.
  • After completing your third dive, the Pearl of Papua will begin her nine-hour journey to Wayag.

Day 3 - Wayag

  • The Pearl of Papua will moor in front of Mt. Pindito. After completing the first dive you will have the opportunity to hike up to the top so bring your cameras, shoes and a hat – the views are spectaular! Upon descending our speed boats will cruise around the bay exploring hidden areas, thus affording you an up-close view of the spectacular limestone karst formations.

Kawe and Waigeo

  • So many wonderful dives, so little time! As there are a number of exceptional sites in the northern part of Raja Ampat, we will spend a bit more time in this area to properly explore it. Changgo is an outstanding site, it offers a stunning combination of soft corals and sea fans which provides a wonderful backdrop while photographing thick schools of fishes. We will dive at The Passage, this site located at the south coast of Waigeo, here schools of giant trevally, Bumphead parrotfish, and the occasional reef shark can be spotted on the way.

Yanggefo and Arborek

  • En route to the Dampier Straits, we will pass the islands of Yangefo and Arborek. Arborek is a small island inhabited by about 130 local Papuans. Here you will have the opportunity to take a more intimate look at their lives as well as explore an authentic village.
  • There are a few excellent sites in this area. Mayhem is not to be missed, with its vibrant benthic life and a plethora of fish about you are sure to love the dive. This area also boasts a manta cleaning station, Manta Sandy!

Dampier Straits

  • The Dampier Straits contain some of Raja Ampat’s most action-packed dives. There are a number of wonderful sites in the area, many of which are exposed to and best-dived when the current is running. Encounters with various sharks, Bumphead Parrotfish, schools of Barracuda, Oceanic Triggerfish, and Big-Eyed Trevally are quite common. The sheer number of fish is literally astounding. At times shoals are so thick the sunlight is practically blocked out.
  • Finally, what better way to end your diving expedition than to have a barbeque on an uninhabited island? The crew will prepare a wonderful meal for you to enjoy as you watch thousands of fruit bats begin their journey to neighboring islands in search of food.

  • We can’t get enough of Dampier Straits! Today you will dive at Chicken Reef and Sardine Reef, these dive spots offer an unforgettable diving experience where you may spot huge schools of fishes being stalked by Barracuda and Trevally. And if you’re lucky to even a few Manta Rays!

What if I need to cancel my booking?Your reservation request is obligation free and you can cancel anytime within the first 72 hours. During this time you can easily find matching flights and get answers from our reservations team to any further questions you may have.After you have confirmed and paid for your reservation, the following cancellation policy applies:

  • 30% deposit will not be refunded
  • 100% will be charged if you cancel less than 91 days prior to arrival 

In case of cancellation the refund will be transferred to your bank account, credit card or paypal account within 10 business days


  • Make sure you meet the country's requirements corresponding to your nationality make sure your passport is valid at least six months after the date you plan to visit the country
  • Diving insurance is mandatory for divers of all ages on all of our trips: bring your certificate as proof
  • It is strongly recommended to have travel insurance that is appropriate for the type of diving holidays you are going to do
  • Check the electrical standards (such as which plugs are used) in your destination country before travelling and bring the appropriate adaptor if necessary.
  • The itinerary and the number of dives are indicative and are subject to weather conditions and conditions: safety is always first
  • All divers must provide their diving certification card
  • Diving computers are compulsory
  • Local rates, fuel surcharges, distance rates, port fees, etc. may change without notice due to changes in government policy, changes in the price of oil, etc. The changes are beyond our control and the increases must be paid if the boat requests them. We will endeavour to inform you of any changes as soon as possible. A change in these rates does not entitle you to cancel the trip.
