The liveaboard Mermaid II is 108 feet (33m) long, built to accommodate Divers in safety and comfort. Mermaid II has been undergoing extensive renovations and major steelworks have been successfully completed. The beautiful Mermaid II is now well prepared for many more years of cruising the amazing Indonesian waters. The caring crew of 14 speaks English, French, German, Indonesian and Spanish. 


The yacht comfortably accommodates up to 18 guests in the 9 spacious cabins. Major news is that all the deluxe cabins with Double bed on the Main Deck have been converted with removable single beds allowing a more space for couples wishing a double bed and for private single use. All deluxe cabin guests will also now enjoy individual cabin air conditioning allowing guests full control of on/off and what temperature they prefer. All deluxe cabins are on the main deck and have a large panoramic sea view windows. The deluxe private en-suite bathrooms have also been updated with all new facilities!  The Budget cabins are below deck with twin bunks, air conditioning and share bathroom.


Chat about the day’s diving in the large, air conditioned Main Saloon with panoramic windows and a TV/DVD where guests can watch movies and listen to music. Enjoy a drink from the Bar fridge or from the tea and coffee facilities. Choose a book from the extensive library and brush up on local marine life with a fish ID book. Find your favorite place to relax on one of the 2 Outside Decks, one shaded with comfy lounge chairs. Work on your tan on the cushioned sun beds located on the Sundeck or pamper yourself with an onboard massage. Can’t get enough of the water, go Snorkeling or try your hand at Fishing. While the Diving is truly spectacular, the Land Excursions are incredible and include sunbathing on deserted beaches, Shopping in remote villages, Hiking mountains and searching for Komodo Dragons in the National Park.


The varied and plentiful cuisine is served in the spacious, wood trimmed Dining Room located on the Main Deck. Guests will be served delicious buffet style Thai and Western style meals. Enjoy a variety of foods for all tastes and appetites. Snacks will be served all day to ensure guests are well fueled for the action-packed dives. Alcohol is available.


Diving aboard the liveaboard Mermaid II, guests will experience the Earth’s greatest collection of marine species from Manta Rays to Pygmy Seahorses. The diverse underwater landscapes were created by the area’s volcanic activity and include, Drift Dives, Wrecks, Muck Diving and gorgeous reefs. With over 3,000 species of fish and 600 coral species, this will be the Dive Safari of a lifetime. As you island hop, encounter Whale sharks, Rays and other large pelagics as well as gigantic schools of fish. Hunt for the magnificent Komodo Dragons in Komodo National Park and explore islands in the Banda Sea, Raja Ampat and Maumere.

  • The trip begins in Sorong and ends in Sorong

  • You should be in town in the morning or better the previous night to get adjusted
  • Currently this trip is scheduled to use the port of Sorong(SOQ). However, the government of Raja Ampat is considering to ask all liveaboards on Raja Ampat trips to go through the port of Waisai in the future. Waisai is about a 2h ferry ride from Sorong and has its own small airport, Marinda airport (RJM).
  • There is NOT a confirmed date for this change in regulation yet.

DAY 2 - 7

  • Dive, eat and sleep will be your only worries for the next days
  • Enjoy your full board liveaboard diving safari
  • During these days we´ll dive the best dive sites in the area


  • Two dives in the morning
  • Then the crew wash your equipment for you while you relax on the sundeck or download your pictures, enjoying our trip video as well just before dinner with all your new friends


  • Check out from 8:00 a.m
  • After breakfast we transfer you ashore to continue your vacation

Diving areas


  • Misool area – with literally 100’s of dives around this magnificent area we will be in diver’s paradise for a few days.
  • Soft corals, gorgonians – some of the pretties corals in the world – and the kingdom of the pygmy seahorse! Pinnacles with masses of fish.
  • Blue water mangroves (crocs depending !) Islands we will thoroughly enjoy the Misool area including Sagof Islands, Wagma and Farondi islands; Wailbatan and Warakaret Island, Kalig, Pele Islands.


  • Fiabacet and Farondi Islands and after the 3rd dive of the day spend some time going around the lagoons in the dinghy for amazing sights and wildlife.
  • Then we may head north to Waigeo Island Perhaps we will spend the day around Batanta Island, a black sand environment – great muck diving!
  • The Mantas call us to Dampier Strait where they hang out at their cleaning stations. This place is also fabulous for macro diving with critters such as Pegasus, Pontohi Pygmy Seahorse, pipefish etc.
  • And two dives at a small island called Arborek, with a lovely village and a jetty great for diving! The jetty pillars are covered in soft corals – a photographer’s delight and also good for macro such as signal gobies, nudibranchs and more Photos
  • Dive around the island of Kawe a great place for schooling fish, and beautiful reefs covered in black coral bushes.
  • Dive Alyui Bay - in Alyui Bay there is a pearl farm. We can tour the pearl farm and learn how they harvest the pearls, and the whole process of pearl farming. You can even buy pearls.
  • Diving in Alyui bay is good for macro and wide angle. Walls covered in soft corals and sea fans with lots of nudies and pygmies. Also a great night dive in the jetty; Raja Epaulette Shark (walking sharks), wobbegongs, crocodile fish, toadfish and frogfish.
  • Dive around the island of Yanggefo – beautiful mangrove areas, stunning reefs covered in orange and purple soft corals, and submerged reef with lots of schooling fish, and pygmies.The Strait of Dampier are also well known for the amount of schooling fish.
  • There are several pinnacles with zillions of fish . Also the tips (capes) of several islands with again lots of schooling fish; schools of barracudas, school of bigeye jacks, snappers, zillions of fusiliers and surgeonfish, etc…. and lots of wobbegongs.


  • 2 dives in the Strait of Dampier.
  • More of the same - fish, fish, fish, glorious corals and all!
  • Then back to Sorong we must go.
  • The crew will take care of rinsing and packing your equipment during this 4-5 hour run.

    What if I need to cancel my reservation?

    Your reservation request is non-binding and can be cancelled at any time within the first 72 hours. During this time you can easily find matching flights and get answers from our booking team to any other questions you may have. After you have confirmed and paid for your reservation, the following cancellation policy applies:

    • 30 % is non-refundable
    • Between 120 days and 90 days before the trip = 70 % is refundable
    • 90 days before the trip = no refund

    In case of cancellation, the refund will be transferred to your bank account, credit card or paypal account within 10 working days.


    • Make sure you meet the requirements for your nationality and entry into the country you are visiting,
    • Make sure your passport is valid for at least six months after the date you plan to leave the country
    • Dive insurance is mandatory for divers of all ages on all our trips: bring your certificate as proof
    • It is strongly recommended to take out a travel insurance that is appropriate for the type of dive vacation booked
    • Check the electrical standards (such as what plugs are used) in your destination country before you travel and bring the appropriate adapter if necessary.
    • Itinerary and number of dives are indicative and subject to weather and conditions: safety always comes first
    • The operator of the vessel is not responsible for civil unrest, terrorism, strikes, illness, epidemics, accidents, injuries, damage, loss and theft, quarantine, customs regulations, changes to flight schedules, delays, deportation or refusal of entry by immigration authorities and other circumstances beyond our control.
    • In the event of a change in the cruise itinerary due to a major cause there is no refund, if there would be a refund if the duration of a cruise were to change, the affected passengers will be offered a credit or refund of the cruise fare pro-rated for the number of days of reduction of the cruise itinerary that was scheduled.
    • In the event that a cruise is cancelled, the ship will make every effort to provide a suitable alternative including, the option to participate in another available ship.
    • If no alternative offered is accepted by the affected cruise passengers, the ship reserves the right to provide a refund of the amount of the cruise fare paid or not.
    • All divers must provide their dive certification card
    • Dive computers are mandatory
    • Local rates, fuel surcharges, distance rates, port fees, etc. may change without notice due to changes in government policy, changes in oil prices, etc. Changes are beyond our control and increases must be paid upon request. We will endeavor to inform you of any changes as soon as possible. A change in these rates does not give you the right to cancel the trip.
