OUR BOAT

M/Y Blue Melody is the third vessel in the blue o two fleet and underwent a complete interior re-fit in 2008, followed by an update in early 2016. Blue Melody is a 38 metre, luxury custom built liveaboard which accommodates up to 26 guests. We are also extremely proud that this superb vessel is currently the holder of the prestigious Diver 2012 award for 'Liveaboard of the Year' and the Sport Diver 2013 'Best Liveaboard' award.

OUR CABINS

The 26 guests can choose between 10 Twin Cabins and 3 Double Cabins. All cabins are en-suite and have individually controlled air-conditioning and a TV screen with built in media player. There is a hard disc attached with a selection of movies and TV programmes available. Bath towels, a beach towel and dressing gowns are provided for every guest. The standard plugs on board are European 2-pin. We provide multi socket extensions with 2-pin and UK 3-pin options. Lastly, we also have USB socket chargers available in your cabins and communal areas. 

AMENITIES

This spacious vessel offers ample room to relax between dives, with a spacious air-conditioned Saloon area complete with plasma screen TV, DVD and multi media player.  The air-conditioned Sky Lounge offers an attractive alternative relaxation area, also with a state of the art entertainment system, in addition to a Bar. 

FOOD ON BOARD

Part of our philosophy is also that even sailing the hidden corners of the Red Sea, good food must not be forgotten. We believe that a great meal crafted with care and love ensures that there is enough strength for the following dives! The on board Chef will create a sumptuous Buffet to delight every guests needs three times a day. Snacks all day will ensure that no one will go hungry during their trip.

DIVING WITH US

Beneath the crystal blue surface of the Red Sea lies a rich and diverse ecosystem, just waiting to be explored. Located between Africa and Asia, the warm tropical waters are home to more than 1100 species of fish, 200 species of hard and soft corals and 44 species of Shark. This rich diversity is in partly due to the expanse of coral reef that extends along its coastline.

MOST RELEVANT INFORMATION

• The trip begins in Hurghada and ends in Hurghada
• The closest airport is Hurghada International 
• Pickup time at the airport is according to your flights. Give yourself enough time to go through immigration and pickup your bags
• Attention! The departure / arrival to the marina can change due to the internal logistics of the boat, the bad weather conditions of the previous week or the bad weather forecast.

 EMBARKATION AND DEPARTURE

• The most used airport is Hurghada Int or Marsa Alam Int., The most known airport and easy to get to is the city of Hurghada
• The transfer from either of the two airports to the ship and from the ship to the airport on the first and last day is included in the price.
• If the boat leaves from Hurghada, the transfer from the airport of Hurghada to the ship is 10 minutes
• If the boat leaves from Port Ghalib, the transfer from the airport of Marsa Alam to the boat is 10 minutes
• Only two transfers are included, one on boarding day and the other on disembarkation day
• Transfers other days that are not specified are extras, they could have a surcharge and it is not guaranteed that the boat can do them since it is not in the program.
• At the airport or at the hotel, a person carrying a boat sign will pick you up (transfers are shared group and there may be a waiting time at the airport, depending on the flights of other passengers and having to go to pick up other customers. some hotel)
• Boarding is the first day indicated on the date the cruise begins, the boarding time is in the afternoon from 5 pm until the early morning maximum 6 am.
• The ship leaves port in the morning around 8 am to go to the first dive spot where a shallow dive to test the diving equipment, ballast, surface buoy, adjust each group of divers.

ARRIVAL AND DISEMBARKATION

• The boat arrives at port in the afternoon, this day only 2 dives are made in the morning.
• It is your responsibility to make sure to respect the 24 hours before the flight schedule after your last dive
• Once the boat arrives at port, you can get off the boat and visit the area if you want, the dinner will be served on the boat, the night of this day you will sleep on the boat.
• Transfers to the airport will be according to the time of your flights, The maximum time to disembark is at 10:00 am.
• In case of need the boat could give advance notice and of necessity to provide the last night in a 4 * HB hotel, if it were the case, the hotel is paid by the boat and any free transfer is offered

EXTRA INFORMATION

• On the deep south route cruises from time to time there are restrictions by maneuvers of the naval forces of Egypt.
• The island Zabargad is the naval base of the naval forces of the Army of Egypt. Permission to sail in the Zabargad and Rocky islands area is obtained in addition to the Army.
• The boat has to request all navigation permits on Monday and receive an answer on Thursday, 2 days before the trip. In the case of a navigation ban in the areas of Zabargad and Rocky, as well as the areas of St Johns and Abu Fendira, the route will be changed to another south route as close as possible.
• This type of changes does not allow compensation or any type of refund.

GENERAL INFORMATION

• This itinerary requires you to possess Open Water Certification with 30 logged dives
• The visibility is fantastic but the currents can be strong
• Experience required: Suitable for all divers
• Dive guide underwater always
• Currents in some areas of this route can be strong.

PROGRAM

DAY 1

DAY 1 :

• Arrival and assistance at the airport. Baggage collection. At the appointed time, transfer to the port. Embarkation in the boat, welcome drink and presentation of the boat and the crew (depending on the flight schedules will be made the first day or the next day). Cabin distribution. Accommodation on board. You can take advantage of the time to prepare your diving equipment, the Director of the cruise will indicate you if you have to make any payment.

DAYS 2º to 6º

• DIVE CRUISE "NORTH WRECKS AND REEFS": 21 - 23 no. of dives. Full board diving cruise and daily dive plan. You will dive the most outstanding points of this route
• Spend four days cruising the northern Red Sea. Normally you will have the opportunity to make three day dives and a night dive each day. The exact itinerary and order of dive sites will vary depending on the conditions but you can expect to visit plenty of wrecks including Thistlegorm, Dunraven, Giannis D, Carnatic and potentially even more. There is also some fantastic reef diving including the Ras Mohamed marine park, Danaba (Shag Rock), Sha'ab El Erg (famous for dolphin encounters) and the Island of Gubal.

SS Thistlegorm

• Probably the most famous of the Red Sea wrecks. The 129m English Freighter was bombed by German aviation on 6th October 1941. Today she creates an artificial reef on a sandy bottom at 32m max depth. She is home to an enormous variety of marine life and is especially popular with large schooling fish.
• Please note: Due to CDWS regulations, you must have a minimum of 20 logged dives in order to dive on this wreck. Other dives on the itinerary are not affected.

Ras Mohamed - Shark & Yolanda Reefs

• This is a world renowned dive site, situated at the tip of the Sinai. Two small ergs are joined by a vertical wall dropping into the abyss. At Shark Reef the current allows you to drift along the wall, rich with colourful corals. Moving towards Yolanda Reef you reach a plateau scattered with small ergs and coral outcrops. Continuing around the reef you will come upon the scattered remains of the wreck 'Yolanda' complete with its cargo of toilets and baths. The whole of this area is big fish territory so keep an eye on the blue!

Gubal Island

• At the gate of the Straits of Gubal is 'Bluff Point', which gets its name from the turbulence created by strong currents that beat the eastern wall of the island. The wreck of the 'Ulysses' lies on the reef 300m north of the lighthouse, starting at 5m and sloping to 25m. 'The Barge' wreck, south of the lighthouse, provides divers with a fun and unusual night dive. The wrecks skeleton creates protection for all types of night creatures.

Abu Nuhas

• Also known as the 'Ships Graveyard', this reef is positioned dangerously close to the busy shipping lanes of the Gulf of Suez. This reef has claimed more ships than any other in the area. On the north side are four wrecks laying on a sandy seafloor at the bottom of a steep sloping reef layered with table corals. Wrecks here include the Ghiannis D, Carnatic, Tile and Lentil Wrecks. On the south side is a safe anchorage for liveaboards and two ergs, known as Yellow Fish Reef.

Danaba (Shag Rock)

• This large circular reef is often overlooked but offers excellent diving on pristine coral from any location on its perimeter.

Sha'ab El Erg

• Famous for its dolphin sightings (and colloquially known as Dolphin House) this shallow reef can offer a dive that you will never forget!

DAY 7º

• 2 dives in the morning. In the afternoon/evening, arrival at port. Dinner and overnight on board.

DAY 8 HURGHADA:

• Disembarkation in Hurghada. Transfers to the hotel/airport

North Route from Hurghada

• The wrecks and reefs route is the most complete and varied. During the week of cruise life on board, embarking and disembarking in Hurghada. This route is ideal both for those who want to discover the famous Red Sea and for those who go for the first time on a Life on Board diving cruise.
• It is suitable for all levels of diving, from novice divers to the most experienced TEC divers, although we recommend a minimum level of Advanced or similar. Navigation is very short and pleasant, with the diving points furthest away about two hours sailing.
• Its diversity allows you to enjoy dives in spectacular walls, incredible schools of fish and majestic reefs in Ras Mohamed National Park, you can enjoy quiet nights and dreamlike landscapes such as the Sinai Peninsula, or multiple islands with their magnificent lagoons and reefs. We will visit the Strait of Gubal and all the wrecks in this area where we will be part of modern history visiting, surely the most famous wreck in the world the S.S. Thistlegorm sunk in World War II and discovered by Jacques Cousteau in the 50s. We will explore the spectacular reef of Abu Nuhas with the wrecks Giannis D and Carnatic. and enjoy an amalgam of colors and corals in dives like Small Crack or Shag Rock, even with a little luck, snorkeling with dolphins.

CANCELLATION POLICY

What happens if I have to cancel my reservation?Your reservation request is free and you can cancel it at any time within the first 72 hours. During this time, you can easily find matching flights and get answers from our reservation team for any other questions you may have. Once you have confirmed and paid for your reservation, the following cancellation policy will apply:

• 30 % non refundable
• Between 120 days and 90 days before trip = 70 % refundable
• Less than 90 days before trip = no refund

In case of cancellation, the refund will be transferred to your bank account, credit card or PayPal account within 10 business days

BEFORE TRAVELLING

• Make sure you meet the requirements for your nationality and entry into the country you are visiting,
• Make sure your passport is valid for at least six months after the date you plan to leave the country
• Dive insurance is mandatory for divers of all ages on all our trips: bring your certificate as proof
• It is strongly recommended to take out a travel insurance that is appropriate for the type of dive vacation booked
• Check the electrical standards (such as what plugs are used) in your destination country before you travel and bring the appropriate adapter if necessary.
• Itinerary and number of dives are indicative and subject to weather and conditions: safety always comes first
• The operator of the vessel is not responsible for civil unrest, terrorism, strikes, illness, epidemics, accidents, injuries, damage, loss and theft, quarantine, customs regulations, changes to flight schedules, delays, deportation or refusal of entry by immigration authorities and other circumstances beyond our control.
• In the event of a change in the cruise itinerary due to a major cause there is no refund, if there would be a refund if the duration of a cruise were to change, the affected passengers will be offered a credit or refund of the cruise fare pro-rated for the number of days of reduction of the cruise itinerary that was scheduled.
• In the event that a cruise is cancelled, the ship will make every effort to provide a suitable alternative including, the option to participate in another available ship.
• If no alternative offered is accepted by the affected cruise passengers, the ship reserves the right to provide a refund of the amount of the cruise fare paid or not.
• All divers must provide their dive certification card
• Dive computers are mandatory
• Local rates, fuel surcharges, distance rates, port fees, etc. may change without notice due to changes in government policy, changes in oil prices, etc. Changes are beyond our control and increases must be paid upon request. We will endeavor to inform you of any changes as soon as possible. A change in these rates does not give you the right to cancel the trip.
