THE NAUTILUS UNDER SEA

Built in 1968 for Perry Oceanographic as a research vessel, the Nautilus Under Sea (105 ft x 24 ft) was refitted in 2017 as a liveaboard with massive upgrades over a period of five months by the Undersea Hunter Group. Today, this ship has been expertly designed to handle the open ocean with custom-built, 0-speed stabilizers. Nautilus Under Sea is SOLAS and ISM certified dive boat in steel construction and is stabilized for comfortable ride. You won’t feel a thing while traveling with this liveaboard.

OUR CABINS

With 8 cabins, the Nautilus Under Sea can comfortably accommodate up to 18 guests. When making a booking, you will have four types of rooms to choose from. There are 6 Cabins on the Lower Deck, 5 have a Queen size bed and an optional, Single upper-bunk, and one room boasts two Bunk Beds. All of the Lower Deck cabins sport a single porthole. On the Main Deck you will find a Quadruple Room featuring 4 Bunk Beds. One Premium Suite can also be found on the Upper Deck and features a Queen-size bed with three portholes. In addition to the amenities mentioned above, each stateroom includes personal hanging lockers, en-suite bathrooms, air-conditioning and carpeted floors.

AMENITIES

Although it is smaller than many liveaboards in the area, the Nautilus Under Sea provides plenty of space for both Crew and Divers. You’ll have access to a top-level Sun Deck with chairs and loungers, an air conditioned Dining Room and Lounge, as well as the bow of the ship where you can enjoy impressive vistas or spot Dolphins playing in the yacht’s wake.The ship does not have a WiFi connection, but it is possible to send emails and place satellite telephone calls for a fee.

FOOD ON BOARD

You can expect a fusion of Mexican and West Coast North American food with fresh baking, produce and vegetables. Vegetarian, vegan, gluten-free, food allergy options, and quasi kosher menus are available with at least 30 days prior notice. A pre-dive continental breakfast with fresh baked goods, a fruit plate, homemade granola, a choice of cereal, yogurt, toast, fresh orange or mango juice and oatmeal. Breakfast is usually served after the first dive and will be a mix of buffet and cooked to order. While menus are always subject to change and refinement, our "hotel breakfast" presently include: eggs to order, omelets, eggs benedict, french toast, pancakes, bean & rice burritos, muffins, hash browns, turkey bacon and sausages. Lunch is served with salad and soup of the day and presently include: Deli style sandwiches with fresh bread, homemade italian style pizzas, fish tacos, burgers, fajitas with fresh salsas, tostadas, quesadillas and lasagne.

Our hostesses will be on the back deck to meet you after every dive with a big smile and a tray of goodies, drinks, and snacks. Afternoon snacks include a selection of the following; homemade cookies, brownies, sushi, cheese and cracker plates, chicken wings, assorted cakes, freshly baked muffins, banana bread, artichoke dip, ceviche, nachos, melted brie, ice cream, vegetable platters with dip and all sorts of other yummy stuff. Dinner is served plated, buffet or family style. There is a nice array of both Mexican and American style meals. Some of the delicious dishes include: street taco night, roast beef, salmon teriyaki, clam alfredo and new york grilled steak. Tea, coffee, juice, soda are included in your trip price.

We also carry a wide variety of alcoholic beverages stashed at our onboard bar including: red wine, white wine, champagne, vodka, gin, tequila, rum, mezcal, brandy, bourbons, single malt scotch and beer (mexican and domestic).

DIVING WITH US

The Nautilus Under Sea liveaboard runs frequent 6, 9 and 11-night trips to distant Socorro and Guadalupe. Expect to encounter an amazing variety of marine life including Hammerheads, Whale Sharks and Tiger Sharks in your 6 to 11 days of diving.

EMBARKATION AND DEPARTURE

• You can check in on the boat as of 20:00

• Meeting time and place is from 12:00 PM onwards in the hospitality suite at Tesoro Los Cabos in Cabo San Lucas
• Please don't make your own way to the boat
• The vessel is equipped with US power sockets

ARRIVAL AND DISEMBARKATION

• It is your responsibility to ensure you respect the 24 hour no-fly time after your last dive!
• The boat docks back in Cabo San Lucas at night on the second to last day

• Usually the last dives are around 30 hours before disembarkation
• Arrival time is always subject to weather and may be later – please don’t book a flight out before 11 AM, better after noon

• Giant rays, sharks, dolphins and humpback whales, this amazing trip offers the best of the best when it comes to close encounters with some of the ocean's largest and most exciting creatures.
• Socorro Island is big animal diving at its best - dolphins, humpback whales (Jan-Apr), tuna, whale sharks (Nov-Dec), hammerheads, up to five other species of sharks and, of course, giant manta rays.
• We call them the 'Friendly Giants' because they are 21 feet across, but they are famous and unique in the world for up close and intimate interaction with divers.
• A liveaboard that enables you to get up close and personal Giant blankets, dolphins and Humpback whales.
• This is prime "bait ball" season, which is the only time of year we see large schools of silky sharks and sometimes pilot whales.
• Over five full days you will be able to experience some of our favorite sites in Socorro and Roca Partida including The Canyon, the Boiler, Red Rocks, Partida Rock, Cabo Pearse, Punta Tosca and Roca Oneal. 
• We know that many of our guests want the option of as many dives as possible and we strive to offer an average of 4 dives a day, other than the day that we do our mandatory check-in at the local navy base when you will likely have the option of 3 dives plus our world-famous silky shark night snorkel.
• Our roots are in the cold, current-swept waters of British Columbia and Alaska and we have always catered to experienced self-reliant divers looking for complete freedom on their dives. These are usually first in the water.
• We love buddying up with new fun looking for the reassurance of being with a dive master from the time they start gearing up until they are back on the big boat.
• Most divers are somewhere mid-spectrum between these 2 groups and we make sure they are very well looked after as well!
• Note that several dives may be difficult and  for different levels of experience.
• The number of dives on offer is subject to weather, the whims of Mother Ocean and crowding by other dive boats
• We will have other stuff going on to keep you as busy as you like with kayaks and paddle boards, shoreline tours, humpback whale watching (January to April), Manta ID in the late afternoon and after-dinner presentations.
• Of course, it's always your option to find a nice quiet place to relax with a book, have a nice snooze, or maybe have a splash in our sparkling clear hot tubs.

TRAVEL PROGRAM

DAY 1

• Meet at the dive center in the sunny vacation hotspot, Cabo San Lucas. Cabo Dive Center is located next to the main lobby and bar of the Tesoro Hotel on the picturesque walkway of the Cabo Marina. Your adventure to Socorro starts here!
• The staff will be there to assist you with any rental gear you need, pre-trip day boat diving and the loan of a Nautilus Life Line, Dive Alert and SMB.
• We will also be offering a complimentary warm up dive off Land's End.
• Your ship will be available for boarding at 8 p.m. and is just a short scenic stroll away, where appetizers and champagne will be waiting for you.

DAY 2

• At sea
• An orientation briefing will be held in the morning, followed by a fire and boat safety drill.
• We'll keep you as busy as you are on this day with Manta 101 in the afternoon, then you will have a chance to prep your gear, read a book, relax on the sun deck or check out the movie selection on our onboard Wifi.
• We will be watching for the "green flash" at sunset, and while cocktail hour is officially at 7pm every evening, many of our guests enjoy some adult beverages well before that on sea days!

• Underway very early this morning for the voyage back to Cabo San Lucas. This is the perfect day to check out photos and videos with the new friends you made onboard, pack your dive gear up and take time to relax before reality sets back in.
• The islands, the mantas, the sharks and the dolphins are almost "other worldly" and we hope the magic stays with you for a long time.
• Arrive back at port late in the evening.

CANCELLATION POLICY

What if I need to cancel my booking?

Your reservation request is obligation free and you can cancel anytime within the first 72 hours. During this time you can easily find matching flights and get answers from our reservations team to any further questions you may have. After you have confirmed and paid for your reservation, the following cancellation policy applies:

Reservation of 1 - 4 Divers:

• If a berth is cancelled....More than 12 months, please read below
• 12 - 9 months prior to departure, 15% of the trip price is forfeit
• 9 - 4 months prior to departure, 25% of the trip price is forfeit
• 4 - 2 months prior to departure, 50% of the trip price is forfeit
• 60 days or less prior to departure, 100% of the trip price is forfeit

Reservation of 5 or more divers:

• If berths are cancelled... More than 18 months, please read below
• 18 - 9 months prior to departure, 10% of the trip price is forfeit
• 9 - 6 months prior to departure, 20% of the trip price is forfeit
• 6 - 2 months prior to departure, 40% of the trip price is forfeit
• 60 days or less prior to departure, 100% of the trip price is forfeit

Refunds 1 - 4 Divers:

• Cancellations received more than 12 months prior to departure are fully refundable less an administrative fee of USD 100 per berth or may be transferred to a new booking without any administrative fee.
• This service can be done once only per booking.
• Note that transferred deposits may only be applied as a credit towards final payment
• Cancellations received less than 12 months prior to departure are non-refundable as per the cancellation policy above.

5 or more Divers:

• Cancellations received more than 18 months prior to departure are fully refundable less an administrative fee of USD 100 per berth or may be transferred to a new booking without any administrative fee.
• This service can be done once only per booking.
• Note that transferred deposits may only be applied as a credit towards final payment.
• Cancellations received less than 18 months prior to departure are non-refundable as per the cancellation policy above.

In case of cancellation the refund will be transferred to your bank account, credit card or paypal account within 10 business days

BEFORE TRAVELLING

• Make sure you meet the country's requirements corresponding to your nationality make sure your passport is valid at least six months after the date you plan to visit the country
• Diving insurance is mandatory for divers of all ages on all of our trips: bring your certificate as proof
• It is strongly recommended to have travel insurance that is appropriate for the type of diving holidays you are going to do
• Check the electrical standards (such as which plugs are used) in your destination country before travelling and bring the appropriate adaptor if necessary.
• The itinerary and the number of dives are indicative and are subject to weather conditions and conditions: safety is always first
• All divers must provide their diving certification card
• Diving computers are compulsory
• Local rates, fuel surcharges, distance rates, port fees, etc. may change without notice due to changes in government policy, changes in the price of oil, etc
• The changes are beyond our control and the increases must be paid if the boat requests them. We will endeavor to inform you of any changes as soon as possible. A change in these rates does not entitle you to cancel the trip.
