OUR BOAT

The New White Manta is possibly the largest purpose-built RINA CLASS dive vessel in the region. Measuring 46m (150 ft) by 10m (30ft), this steel hull vessel will take 24-32 guests depending on the cruise destinations. The 14 beautifully furnished en-suite cabins, each average 20sqm (200sf) in size, an open outdoor alfresco dining area, an indoor air-conditioned room for dining, speaks of the perfect onboard ambiance of a world class dive holiday. 

With maximum comfort and safety in mind, the New White Manta is well equipped with safety facilities, cruises at 10 knots and the steel hull makes her an ideal vessel for long haul cruises and blue water crossing trips.

The high crew and guest ratio ensures attentive, outstanding and personalised service.  With a total of 20 crew members working onboard, we are committed to your comfort and enjoyment.

OUR CABINS 

The New White Manta will take 24-32 guests depending on destination and if booked as a full charter.  There are 14 beautifully furnished en-suite cabins, each average 20sqm (200sf) in size comprising of  twin/double or triple share cabins: 6 cabins on upper deck with window, 4 cabins on main deck with window, 4 cabins on below deck with a port hole. All cabins are fitted with speakers, fire and smoke alarms.

AMENITIES

Between dives is a luxurious experience, as there are several places to relax, socialize, sunbathe, or view or edit photos and videos from the diving. There are al-fresco and air-conditioned dining areas, as well as large comfortable cabins. Sundecks, massage service and multimedia TV areas add to the choice of entertainment on board. Satellite communication enables 24-hour Wi-Fi, and there's even a message service to stay connected with friends and family.

FOOD ON BOARD

Having good food should be one of the most important criteria when choosing a liveaboard.  On the New White Manta you start your day with freshly baked breads. With no less than 5 meals a day, (Western & Indonesian) snacks, hot beverages, coffee, tea, Milo, you will be filled and satisfied with an extensive range of treats for your taste buds.

Although we cannot ensure perfect dive-sites and weather conditions, we can certainly guarantee a treat for your taste buds. Guests will enjoy five meals a day from a blend of Western, Indo and Thai cuisine all served in comfortable indoor/outdoor dining areas while enjoying the panoramic view of tropical islands in a glistening turquoise sea. 

DIVING IN THE AREA

Diving with the experienced crew of the New White Manta will take you to the best dives sites in Tioman and Layang Layang, Dallas, Mariveles Atoll Malaysia and Acasta reef, wreck, Garden of Eden in Indonesia. 

The area has a rich diversity of marine life including Hawksbill & Green Turtles, White Tip Reef sharks, Cuttlefish, Octopus, stingray & Giant Moray Eels, Triggerfish, scorpionfish, damselfish, clown fish, surgeonfish, trevally, Barracuda, snapper, fusilier and more, occasional sightings of Whale Shark possible!

Layang Layang, Dallas Reef, Mariveles Reef Itinerary

MOST RELEVANT INFORMATION  

  • For this route the boat leaves from Sutera Harbour Marina, Kota Kinabalu and ends at Sutera Harbour Marina, Kota Kinabalu
  • You must have an Advanced Open Water certification to book this itinerary
  • Attention! The departure/arrival at the marina can change due to the internal logistics of the boat, the bad weather conditions of the previous week or the bad weather forecast.
  • Port departure/arrival can be changed due to internal boat logistic, bad weather conditions on previous week or bad weather forecast, naval exercises. In case of changes all transfers are provided to the new marina, cannot be issue of refund or compensations

EMBARKATION AND DEPARTURE

  • The nearest airport is Kota Kinabalu (BKI).
  • The transfer from the airport to the ship and from the ship to the airport on the first and last day is included in the price. (The airport is approximately 10 minutes from the harbour).
  • Transfers from hotels to the ship are included as well
  • Only two transfers are included, one on boarding day and the other on disembarkation day
  • Transfers other days that are not specified here are extras, they cost money and it is not guaranteed that the boat can do them since it is not in the program.
  • At the airport or at the hotel, a person carrying a WHITE MANTA sign will pick you up (transfers are shared group, there may be a waiting time at the airport, depending on the flights of other passengers, transfer might need to go pick up others clients from hotels)
  • The embarkation is the first day indicated on the date the cruise begins.
  • Check in on the boat is in the morning
  • The boat departs marina at around 14:00 on the same day 

ARRIVAL AND DISEMBARKATION

  • Your last dives will be on the second to last day in the morning
  • It is your responsibility to ensure you respect the 24 hour no-fly time after your last dive!
  • The boat docks back in Sutera Harbour Marina, Kota Kinabalu in the early morning on the last day 
  • Check out and disembarkation is between 05:00 and 12:00 on the last day
  • Hotel drop-off time is in the morning
  • Airport drop-off time is in the morning
  • In case of need the boat could give advance notice and of necessity to provide the last night from Friday to Saturday in a 4 * HB hotel, if it was the case, the hotel is paid by the boat and any extra transfer is offered free of charge

EXTRA INFORMATION

  • Dive gear rental should be arranged at the time of booking
  • Every diver should have an SMB (surface market buoy
  • Credit card payments comes with 4.5% additional handling fee
  • Cash payments - please ensure ALL bills are in good order; NOT worn or torn and unmarked or we are UNABLE to accept.  Exchange rates differ for USD100/50 bills and USD20/10 bills.
  • Note; late receipt of Passport details may very likely lead to delayed departure & significant changes to the itinerary. We MUST receive guest’s details well in advance in the trip.
  • Passport; we need to apply for your Borneo Banks Diving “Security” Permit in advance of your trip.  In order for us to do this please can you send a scanned clear copy of your Passport (face page) or Travel Document upon booking. 
  • Passport; ensure your passport is in good order, has enough pages, is valid for at least 9 months, and that you can enter Malaysia.  If unsure then please check with your local Malaysian Embassy BEFORE your trip.

GENERAL INFORMATION

The Malaysian dive site is so large that your particular itinerary will inform you of the exact qualification and experience needed for that cruise.

To dive with a dive buddy, you must be a PADI Open Water diver or equivalent and be able to complete each dive with your buddy or following your guide. On some dives the recommended depth is below 18m therefore advanced or Deep Diver training is advised.

Many of the dives in Indonesia are suitable for all levels of divers, however, unpredictable and strong currents are to be expected anytime and anywhere. Inexperienced divers may find some dives challenging and may be asked by the Cruise Director to skip dives that are not suitable for their diving experience

Number of planned dives depending on the weather conditions and the route are varied but with an average of 4 dives per day - one dive will be a sunset or night dive.

Currents in some areas of this route can be strong.

PROGRAM

DAY 1: Arrival and assistance at the airport. Collecting your luggage. At the indicated time, transfer to the port depending the route. Boarding the boat, welcome drink and presentation briefing of the boat and crew (depending on the schedule of flights will be the first day or the next day early morning). Distribution of cabins. Overnight on board. You can take some time this day to prepare your diving equipment. 

DAYS 2nd to Penultimate day: 18 are the number of dives in this trip. Diving trip with full board and daily diving plan. You will dive the most important dive sites of this route. Every single trip is tailor-made to create a once-in-a-lifetime experience. The decision on the itinerary is made by the cruise director based on factors such as weather conditions, dive conditions, requests of guests, schedules of other liveaboards, which we are trying to stay away from

Penultimate Day: 2 dives in the morning. 

Final Day: Disembark in Port. Check out after light breakfast, farewells, and transfer to local hotel or airport. 

DIVE ROUTES

Layang Layang (Borneo Malaysia, from April to June)

Layang Layang known as the ‘jewel of the Borneo Banks’ is a coral atoll situated around 300 km north of Kota Kinabalu in Sabah, North Borneo, Malaysia. It's coral walls plunge a staggering 6,000 feet (2,000 meters) down to the floor of the South China Sea. Given its location in the middle of nowhere, the ocean waters are clear and unpolluted.

Water Temp: between 27-30 degrees Celsius,

Air Temp; 28-35 degrees Celsius, Visibility: 10-30m+

Levels of Experience: Experienced & advanced ONLY

Best Time to Dive; April - June for best weather & visibility

What to See/ Highlights; Hawksbill & Green Turtles, White Tip Reef sharks, Cuttlefish, Octopus, stingray & Giant Moray Eels. Potential sightings of Hammerhead sharks, Manta & Mobula Ray. Stunning hard coral gardens play host to a vast array of reef life; Triggerfish, scorpionfish, damselfish, clown fish, surgeonfish, trevally, Barracuda, snapper, fusilier and more.

Tioman Island (Departing from Singapore April to October)

Tioman Island is a small, tropical island, 39km long and just 12km wide, situated off the East coast of Peninsular Malaysia. The calm, sheltered waters surrounding Tioman island are perfect for all levels of divers. New, training and beginner divers can enjoy the safety & protection offered by the many shallow reefs and secluded bays, whilst more advanced divers & photographers will be amazed at the healthy hard & soft coral gardens along with the wide variety of marine life on display.

Air Temp; 28-35 degrees Celsius, Visibility: 8-20m+

Levels of Experience: ALL levels for divers & non-divers.

Best Time to Dive; mid-November to mid-April

What to See/ Highlights; Hawksbill & Green Turtles, Black Tip Reef sharks, Cuttlefish, Octopus, stingray & Giant Moray Eels. Stunning hard coral gardens play host to a vast array of reef life; Triggerfish, scorpionfish, damselfish, clown fish, surgeonfish, trevally, Barracuda, snapper, fusilier and more. Macro enthusiasts can find a wide variety of Nudibranch as well as pipefish, shrimp, crabs and more!

Anambas Islands & Igara Wreck (from Singapore, April to October)

The Anambas Islands form a small archipelago 150 nautical miles northeast of Batam Island in the North Natuna Sea between the Malaysian mainland to the west & the island of Borneo to the East. Enjoy excellent visibility in clear blue waters, exploring the stunning hard coral gardens around the island of Malingbiru & the huge underwater seamount of Katoka. The ONLY way to reach these reefs is by liveaboard; remote & isolated these dive spots on the edge of the Anambas remain largely untouched by human hand, the perfect weekend escape from a crowded & humid Singapore!

The Igara Wreck was an Italian Iron ore carrier which was sunk in March 1973. This huge wreck, situated around 70 miles from Singapore, now sits in 40m of water with her shallowest point rising to around 16m. At the time of her sinking, the Igara represented the largest ever maritime loss with her cargo valued at over $25 million. Now covered in gorgeous soft corals and bursting with marine life, she has become a regular favorite of Singapore divers. However, before diving here, all should be aware for the potential of very strong currents & poor visibility, conditions on the Igara are ‘changeable’ to say the least & is recommended for advanced divers only!

Air Temp; 28-35 degrees Celsius, Visibility: 15-30m+

Levels of Experience: Anambas; suitable for all levels for divers. Igara Wreck; Intermediate to advanced divers.

CANCELLATION POLICY

What if I need to cancel my booking?

  • Your reservation request is obligation free and you can cancel anytime within the first 72 hours. During this time you can easily find matching flights and get answers from our reservations team to any further questions you may have. After you have confirmed and paid for your reservation, the following cancellation policy applies: 
  • Deposit & Balance payments made are non-refundable. 
  • 50% charged for cancellation within 8 weeks of departure, 
  • 100% charged for cancellation within 6 weeks of departure
  • In case of cancellation the refund will be transferred to your bank account, credit card or paypal account within 10 business days.

BEFORE TRAVELLING

  • Make sure you meet the country's requirements corresponding to your nationality
  • Diving insurance is mandatory for divers of all ages on all of our trips: bring your certificate as proof
  • It is strongly recommended to have travel insurance that is appropriate for the type of diving holidays you are going to do
  • Check the electrical standards (such as which plugs are used) in your destination country before travelling and bring the appropriate adaptor if necessary.
  • The itinerary and the number of dives are indicative and are subject to weather conditions and conditions: safety is always first
  • All divers must provide their diving certification card
  • Diving computers are compulsory
  • Local rates, fuel surcharges, distance rates, port fees, etc. may change without notice due to changes in government policy, changes in the price of oil, etc. The changes are beyond our control and the increases must be paid if the boat requests them. We will endeavor to inform you of any changes as soon as possible. A change in these rates does not entitle you to cancel the trip.
