OceanQuest is one of the leading Cairns liveaboards, With daily departures via our fast transfer vessel, we can offer flexible itineraries from a single night stay to multiple nights on The Great Barrier Reef. Enjoy up to 5 dives a day on a selection of the 17 exclusive reef sites on Norman, Saxon and Hastings reefs.

CABINS

OceanQuest Year built 1988/Renovated 2017, has 23 cabins, each with en-suite bathrooms, TV and air-conditioning.

AMENITIES

Split over 3 decks, there is plenty of space for relaxation in the air-conditioned lounge and bar area, dining room and sun decks. 

Onboard OceanQuest you’ll also find our well stocked bar area. Refurbished in 2017, this offers a comfy place to relax and chill out after an amazing day of diving. Between our sun decks, your large cabins, the dining area and our bar there is plenty of room for everyone to relax, meaning the vessel never feels crowded even when fully booked. All meals are included while onboard, however, please note that alcoholic beverages and addition snacks such as crisps/chips and cookies must be paid for. Sides like vegetables, salads, pasta, rice and potatoes.

FOOD ON BOARD

Food is taken seriously on Cairns' Ocean Quest, with both breakfast and lunch being served buffet style. Breakfast consists of bacon, sausages, eggs, breads and cereals. Dinner is served to you at the table, with second servings available. Don’t worry you’ll get dessert too – this is served after your night dive. Lunch and dinner normally consist of a meat or seafood main course with Sides like vegetables pasta, rice and potatoes. What is served depends on what our chef has dreamed up that day, but whatever it is it’s sure to be delicious! Chef's check on arrival if guests have any dietary requirements such as vegetarian, gluten Free, and can cater to such needs. However we do recommend letting us know in advance for ease of ordering food. (OceanQuest cannot cater to Vegans, only vegetarians. Vegetarian is the best They can really do in the middle of the ocean with 48 passengers. Please bring extra snacks for in between meal options.)

Aboard the Ocean Quest Liveaboard Divers have the option to experience The Great Barrier Reef at night in a whole new way with Fluoro Night Diving This spectacular dive extravaganza uses specialist torches and mask filters to bring the reef to life in a range of amazing fluorescent colours. Fluoro Diving offers a truly unique and magical experience on the Great Barrier Reef! When the sun goes down there’s another treat in store, as we jump in for a dive with one of the reef’s most amazing residents – the shark! Our nightly sharks in the dark experience is included in the cost of your liveaboard and is sure to impress even the most experienced of divers.

DEPARTURE & EMBARKATION

  • Once at Deep Sea Facility you will finalize any paperwork and then go off to the Cairns Marina where the transfer vessel, Sea Quest (day trip boat), is waiting to take you to your first dive/snorkelling site.
  • The boat departs Cairns at around 08:30 on the same day
  • In the afternoon, after the first few dives that will be done from Sea Quest, you will be transferred to Ocean Quest (at approx. 14:30)
  • The vessel is equipped with Power socket adapters
  • Accepted payment methods on board: Cash
  • DIN/INT adaptors are available on board
  • You must bring your own towels

ARRIVAL & DISEMBARKATION

  • Your last dives will be on the last day in the morning
  • It is your responsibility to ensure you respect the 24 hour no-fly time after your last dive!
  • The boat docks back in Cairns around 16:30 on the last day
  • Check out and disembarkation is around 16:30 on the last day.
  • Hotel drop-off time is in the afternoon
  • Once back into Cairns you will return to the Divers Den facility to collect any luggage and then arrange transfer to your city accommodation

EXTRA INFORMATION

  • Transfers are not available from Private Addresses or the airport.
  • If you are at one of these locations you will need to make your own way to 319 Draper St Parramatta Park in the morning and be there at 7:30
  • OceanQuest cannot cater to Vegans, only vegetarians. Vegetarian is the best they can really do in the middle of the ocean with 48 passengers. Please bring extra snacks for in between meal options.

TAVEL PROGRAM

During Minkie whale season the diving schedule might be changed in order to maximize the interaction with these magnificents marine mammals.

DAY 1

  • At Deep Sea Facility you will finalise any paperwork and arrange storage for any excess luggage. Then it is off to the Cairns Marlin Marina where the transfer vessel SeaQuest awaits to take you away to your snorkelling/diving adventure.
  • You will reach the first destination on the reef (90 mins) and on the way out the talented and experienced crew will take you through a Safety Briefing, Crew Introduction, Necessary Dive Paperwork and also your chosen activity.

A TYPICAL DIVING DAY

  • Once at the reef is time to gear up and explore the hidden wonders that makes the Great Barrier Reef.
  • Lunch is provided on board
  • transfer to our boat.
  • chance to hit the water again in the afternoon before taking some time to relax and chill.
  • Dinner
  • Our Certified Divers have the opportunity to do a Night dive and our snorkelers get to experience our "Sharks in the Dark" program 
  • The bar is open until 10:30pm 

LAST DAY

  • Time to get out and make the most of your final day on the Reef with the Early Morning Dive.

CANCELLATION FEES

  • 10% of the total booking amount will be charged if you cancel more than 30 days prior to arrival
  • 100% will be charged if you cancel less than 30 days prior to arrival

BEFORE TRAVELLING

  • Make sure you meet the country's requirements corresponding to your nationality
  • Make sure your passport is valid at least six months after the date you plan to visit the country
  • Diving insurance is mandatory for divers of all ages on all of our trips: bring your certificate as proof
  • It is strongly recommended to have travel insurance that is appropriate for the type of diving holidays you are going to do
  • Check the electrical standards (such as which plugs are used) in your destination country before travelling and bring the appropriate adaptor if necessary.
  • The itinerary and the number of dives are indicative and are subject to weather conditions and conditions: safety is always first
  • All divers must provide their diving certification card
  • Diving computers are compulsory
  • Local rates, fuel surcharges, distance rates, port fees, etc. may change without notice due to changes in government policy, changes in the price of oil, etc. The changes are beyond our control and the increases must be paid if the boat requests them. We will endeavour to inform you of any changes as soon as possible. A change in these rates does not entitle you to cancel the trip.
