Every winter, from December to March, large tiger and hammerhead sharks gather in large numbers around tiger beach, curiously approaching the dives.

The Gulf Stream passes through tiger beach, bringing a large number of large fish to this area.

Every year, divers dive in cages with tiger sharks and also with hammers and bulls for charitable purposes.

At Tiger Beach, colorful coral reefs, steep walls, shipwrecks and shallow caverns produce a variety of dive types including night dives, drift dives, simple reef dives and technical dives. Of course, this part of the Bahamas is most famous for its shark dives.

Beginners will feel comfortable on many of the protected reefs, but the Gulf Stream, which runs through Tiger Beach, can create fast slopes more suitable for advanced divers.

While several of the reefs are accessible from the shore, most diving is done from small speedboats. If you want to visit more remote dive sites, consider booking a liveaboard. These depart from Grand Bahama or Florida, USA.

Please note that spearfishing or harvesting fish during diving is prohibited. Also remember that many of the shark dives in the area are rigged.

Tiger Shark Diving in Tiger Beach

Tiger Beach has become one of the best places on the planet to meet one of the ocean's most incredible predators, the great tiger shark. These elusive giants have evaded divers for years, but now Neal Watson's Tiger Beach Scuba Center has access! We were the first and only operator in Tiger Beach to offer this incredible tour and have learned the secrets of this spectacular experience from the original people who discovered this dive years ago. We are committed to safety, both for our divers and for the sharks, and we are delighted to unveil this life-long thrill to our guests.

Our Tiger Shark Safaris are run for a limited period of time each year, and have limited availability, so book now to secure your place in one of the most spectacular diving opportunities available worldwide! Available only during the months of December to April!

"From the cold waters of California to the warm waters of Tiger Beach. What an incredible trip!"

Daily space is limited to 14 lucky guests who will experience these elusive giants up close. The exact departure and arrival times will be chosen by the captain and will depend on weather and tides. The average time from Safari to Tiger Sharks is 11 am to 5 pm.

Departure from the big games club of Tiger beach Resort & Marina Fuel Dock around 11 am

Welcome to tiger shark headquarters! Guests must arrive at least 15 minutes before the scheduled departure time. Drinking water will be provided on board, but we strongly recommend that you bring snacks and/or lunches.

Arrive in Tiger Beach around 11.30 am

After anchoring at Tiger Beach, we will start preparing the dive, this includes priming the water. Once the setup is complete, it's time to start looking for sharks! This process can take from 5 minutes to several hours. Once we attract tiger sharks and they are comfortable, divers will be invited into the water. The dive takes place in approximately 20 feet of water, so our tanks will last a long time. Once you are out of the air and because the bottom time is so long, we suggest that you go up, eat something and rest before going down again. However, you are always welcome to dive, dive, dive! Keep in mind that the average water temperature during the tiger shark season is around 70 to 70. Therefore, we always recommend a neoprene suit, a hood and 5mm gloves.

Return to resort & marina around 5pm

We always dive until we're out of bait, tanks and/or sunlight, whichever comes first!
